And while Private Internet Access does have live support, it isn’t 24/7. We also had some trouble with getting any issues we offered them solved in a timely manner. It’s rare to find a service that doesn’t have a maximum cap on simultaneous connections. However, with IPVanish, you get just that, and at solid speeds as well. While it’s not one of the fastest VPNs available, its speeds are nothing to scoff at and are almost always consistent. It offers an array of useful security tools, but unfortunately, no DNS support.

We didn’t have too much trouble getting it to work with Playstation and other consoles. The live chat isn’t 24/7, but they were very helpful and responsive with any issues we offered them. However, once that’s done, you’ll enjoy a reliable service that doesn’t feel much different from the other established names in the market.

Surfshark can be seen as a sort of diamond in the rough. Among a sea of VPNs that wear the “affordable VPN” title, Surfshark is one of the highest quality among them. It allows 10 simultaneous connections, has decent speeds that shouldn’t stagger gaming experience, and comes with Smart DNS support for consoles like Playstation.

Its live customer support is also 24/7 and was very helpful with any problems we gave them. Obviously, you can’t expect the same speeds and quality as the top-priced premium VPNs of the market, but at its price point, Surfshark is a VPN we’d recommend to anyone looking for quality on a budget.

Sadly, that setup is going to be manual with consoles, so some assembly is indeed required. But if you can look past that and the lack of support for smart DNS tools, VyprVPN has very few drawbacks when you look at its incredibly low-priced plans. We had some fluctuations with speed in testing (particularly shooters and other reaction-based games were most noticeable), and the software even crashed once during use. ProtonVPN sits on the bottom of our list. The VPN didn’t feel a bit clunky to use for consoles in testing. It offers no smart DNS support and was pretty tricky to set up manually.

The speeds can bounce around here and there but are usually decent. Proton also offers no live customer support, so the setup was even more of a hassle without the option of live help. That said, wide country coverage and 10 simultaneous connections are pretty generous at such an affordable price.
